KIT (CD117) is a membrane-bound tyrosine kinase that stains positive in >90% of RO or chRCC (100% and 96%, respectively); on the contrary, AML, papRCC, and ccRCCs are infrequently immunoreactive (17%, 5%, and 3%, respectively) for KIT [83]. This evidence concerns the gene KIT and chromophobe renal cell carcinoma.
