LGI1 and Alzheimer disease: Experimental evidence suggests that palmitoylation acts on the neural cell adhesion molecule (N-CAM) [70,71], CD36 [72], superoxide dismutase (SOD1) [73], leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1), Niemann–Pick C1 protein (NPC1) that is implicated in AD, the NMDA receptor in the frontal cortex [69,74,75,76,77,78] and chaperones as the presynaptic co-chaperone Cysteine string protein-α (CSPα) [15,79,80].
