CDH1 and gastric cancer: Numerous soluble and membrane-anchored host proteases have been associated with E-cadherin shedding, such as the matrix metalloproteases MMP3, MMP7, MMP9, MMP14 [71,73,75,77], ADAM10, and ADAM15 [68,110], which are upregulated in response to H. pylori infection [38,39,65,66,111] and in gastric cancer tissue [104,105].
