There are numerous studies that relate the polymorphisms and gene variations in the IL-1β gene with the differences in the transcription and expression of the IL-1β gene that could correlate with the development of many autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus [8], rheumatoid arthritis [9], and multiple sclerosis [10]. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
