ELD-NL category genes were associated with pathways mainly related to “organismal systems (endocrine and digestive system, regeneration, aging)”, “metabolism (carbohydrate, lipid, amino acid, vitamins, xenobiotics metabolism)”, and “diseases (drug resistance, cancer)” (Figure 9A), including, for example, 11 genes involved in the “insulin signal pathway”, 13 genes involved in “growth hormone synthesis, secretion and action”, 10 genes involved in “fatty acid elongation”, and 20 genes involved in “viral carcinogenesis”(Figure 10A). Here, INS is linked to cancer.
