In our previous study, miR-548d-3p was up-regulated in plasma from self-healed cutaneous leishmaniasis patients and in vitro L. braziliensis-infected THP-1 cells, and when miR-548d-3p was inhibited in infected THP-1 cells, a decrease in parasite load was observed, and an increase in the production of MCP1/CCL2, RANTES/CCL5, and IP-10/CXCL10 (Souza et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL10 and cutaneous leishmaniasis.
