In another case–control study, the authors83 noted that high proportion of patients with AMD with poor response to anti‐VEGF therapy (79%) had symptoms and other risk factors of OSA (e.g., obesity, high blood pressure), compared with less than half of participants in the other groups (including participants with no AMD, non‐exudative AMD, or with exudative AMD but had good response to anti‐VEGF treatment). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
