Current studies have demonstrated that extracellular accumulation of amyloid beta (Aβ) peptide [2], dysfunction of cholinergic system [3], neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) of hyper-phosphorylated tau protein [4], and multiple genes including ABCA7, BIN1, CASS4, CD33, CD2AP, CELF1, CLU, CR1 and DSG2 are involved in the occurrence and progression of AD [5].
