Paclitaxel induces peripheral neuropathy through multiple mechanisms: 1) arrest of the cell cycle by stabilizing the microtubules, 2) mitochondrial dysfunction, 3) sensitization of ion channels, including voltage-gated sodium channels and TRPV1, and 4) neuronal damage and neuroinflammatory processes (Flatters and Bennett, 2006; Nieto et al., 2008; Kavallaris, 2010; Sisignano et al., 2014; Kamata et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene TRPV1 and peripheral neuropathy.
