Similar changes to NeuN expression or localization had already been noted in other pathologies including stab wound TBI, axon damage, cerebral ischemia, and epilepsy (McPhail et al., 2004; Ünal-Çevik et al., 2004; Robel et al., 2011; Hernandez et al., 2019), yet the functional consequences of these changes are unknown.
