Upregulated genes in individuals living with obesity were enriched amongst dendritic cell maturation, nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) regulation of immune response, inflammatory signalling including IL-6 and IL-8 signalling, triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM), B- and T-cell signalling, production of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species, and NF-κB and inflammasome pathways (Figure 2b). This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
