Furthermore, NLRP3, which encodes a pyrin-like protein containing a pyrin domain, functions as an upstream activator of nuclear factor (NF-kappa B) signalling and regulates inflammation, the immune response, and apoptosis, showed relatively high mutation frequencies in several cancers, including uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC), SKCM, colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), LUAD, and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) (Additional file 2: Fig. S3).
