However, only a small part of MVPs have relatively large Δβ (|Δβ|> 0.2), and focusing on those with large Δβ, we found that 6 of 26 differentially methylated genes (23.1%) were previously associated with sepsis in the literature (Supplementary Table 3), including ALK, ZEB2, MNDA, AIM2, TLR5, and JUNB.
