People with extreme and critical COVID-19 revealed an elevated level of inflammatory molecules such as interleukins (IL-2, IL-6, and IL-10), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, interferon-γ inducible protein-10, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and lymphopenia (Huang et al., 2020; Liu et al., 2020; Wang W. et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene CSF2 and lymphopenia.
