Promising results on the therapeutic benefits of MD2 inhibition comes from a recent study by Fang et al. Treatment with a small peptide Tat-CIRP which can pass through the blood brain barrier and competitively bind to MD2 was shown to induce long-lasting neuroprotection against ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in rodents and non-human primates (79). This evidence concerns the gene LY96 and hemorrhagic stroke.
