Our study showed that TP changed the expression patterns of surface molecules and secreted cytokines by DCs, downregulating CD80/86, ICAM-1, MHCI, TLR2/4, TNF-α, and IL-6 expression and upregulating PDL1 and IL-10 expression; these effects converted DCs into tolerogenic DCs and were crucial for the maintenance of immune homeostasis and the control of autoimmune disorders (Li et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and autoimmune disease.
