IL27 and Zika virus infectious disease: Furthermore, using Ifnar1−/−, Il27ra−/−, and Ifnar1−/−/Il27ra−/− mice infected with ZIKV, Kwock et al. (2020) showed that subcutaneous administration of recombinant IL27 reduced mortality and onset of neurological symptoms of ZIKV infection in an IFN-independent manner, confirming the ability of IL27 to induce a protective antiviral response against ZIKV, both in vitro and in vivo.
