In their atypical forms, pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN) and phospholipase A2-associated neurodegeneration (PLAN, also called Neuroaxonal dystrophy NAD), might manifest with adult-onset chorea associated with parkinsonism, dystonia, and cognitive impairment. Here, PANK1 is linked to pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration.
