Patients suffering from migraines show an increased level of CGRP in their saliva and plasma suggesting that CGRP plays an important role in the pathophysiology of migraine headache (Gallai et al., 1995; Cady et al., 2009; Hansen et al., 2010; Al-Hassany and Van Den Brink, 2020; Wattiez et al., 2020). The gene discussed is CALCA; the disease is migraine disorder.
