NFKB1 and periodontal disorder: Basal upregulation of NF-κB and its target genes has been noted in diseased periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PDLFs) compared to healthy PDLFs [23], while downregulation of NF-κB may decrease the levels of cytokines and the numbers of TRAP-positive multinucleated cells in ligature-induced periodontal disease rats [39].
