Many recent studies found that key factors that cause neurodegenerative diseases, such as 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP), amyloid-β (Aβ), and Tau, are also activation signals for the NLRP3 inflammasome [17–20]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and neurodegenerative disease.
