The mRNA levels of M1-type (CD80), M2-type (MRC1/CD206) and total macrophage (CD68) markers were increased by 3-, 1.35- and 1.47-fold in SAT from MetS+ versus MetS− subjects, while, in VAT, only the M2-type marker MSR1/CD204 showed a slight 1.28-fold upregulation (Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene MSR1 and metabolic syndrome.
