As for current known candidates for viruses which could be similar to those we hypothesize to have existed in bats, there are a few respiratory diseases, such as Influenza A and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRS), as well as Encephalomyocarditis Virus (ECMV), all of which were shown to be inhibited by TRIM22, but not yet by TRIM5 [23,25]. This evidence concerns the gene TRIM5 and respiratory system disorder.
