YAP1 and cancer: In the case of triple negative breast cancer, the plasma concentration of vitamin C achieved after oral administration (100 μM) inhibited the metastatic potential of cancer cells, influencing the expression of YAP1 (yes-associated protein 1) and synaptopodin 2, both genes in the Hippo pathway [27], while at ‘pharmacological concentrations’ (≥20 mM) it also influenced CSCs [28].
