Gill et al.24have shown that FcεRIα on peripheral blood pDCs inversely correlated with their impaired production of IFN‐α in response to virus infection, and furthermore, that cross‐linking of FcεRIα (as would occur with allergen exposure in asthma) on peripheral blood pDCs ablates their ability to induce IFN‐α in response to virus infection. The gene discussed is IFNA1; the disease is viral infectious disease.
