Similar applications of LR-CDs were employed by Fujii and co-workers, where they successfully used the self-assembled nanogel of cholesterol-bearing LR-CDs with spermine group as an intra-tumor carrier to deliver vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-specific short interfering RNA (siVEGF) into tumor cells, and effectively suppressed the neovascularization and growth of renal cell carcinomas in mice [81]. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
