Analyses of the results of the ARISTOTLE [13], RE-LY [14], and ENGAGE AF-TIMI 48 [15] trials demonstrated that NT-proBNP levels were independently associated with an increased risk of IS, and, thus, adding NT-proBNP to the CHA2DS2-VASc score could improve this latter’s predictive power.
