Despite the limited number of cases, our results, which are based on an integrative strategy for patient characterization using patient clinical information (e.g., antifungal treatment, etanercept administration, neutropenia, SNPs), diagnostic tests (Aspergillus PCR, Galactomannan assay, CT scans), and newly identified human biomarker candidates (LGALS2, MMP1, and caspase-3) (Figure 7b) are promising. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS2 and neutropenia.
