Finally, the NGS platform used here included 70 ‘pan-cancer’-related genes, yet excluded a number of genes commonly altered in WdNETs, such as MUTYH, ATRX, DAXX and MEN1; a WdNET-specific gene panel, developed on the basis of more recent NGS data from large NEN datasets, may allow for the increased sensitivity of ctDNA detection in these patients. This evidence concerns the gene MUTYH and cancer.
