When assessing the genes associated with the ALS signaling pathway, we found that NF-H (NEFH), NF-M (NEFM), and NF-L (NEFL) were all significantly upregulated in the affected brother (AB) motor neurons compared to the healthy brother (HB) (Figure 1A,B). The gene discussed is NEFL; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
