Mechanistically, both epigenetic regulators (e.g., DEAH-box helicase 33 (DHX33)-containing protein complex) and transcription factors (e.g., HIF−1α (hypoxia inducible factor 1 subunit alpha)) operate on an ENO1 promoter to increase ENO1 transcription during hypoxia—a predominant growth milieu of many cancers [16,17]. The gene discussed is ENO1; the disease is cancer.
