It has been observed that dopamine downregulates NLRP3 inflammasome via dopamine D1 receptors and D2 receptors [63,64,65], which is consistent with upregulation of the inflammasome observed in PD models and aged substantia nigra in the present experiments, which also show that the brain RAS, and particularly the upregulation of the AngII/AT1 axis mediates this effect. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is Parkinson disease.
