PTBP2 and nervous system disorder: The discovery that PTB reduction in glial cells can reprogram them into neurons began from the seminal observation of this phenomenon in murine and then human fibroblasts, followed by the investigation of the transdifferentiation mechanisms via a PTB-miRNA modulated loop [17], and then more recently with the exploration of in vivo conversion in rodent disease models with the final aim of clinical translation for the treatment of neurological diseases.
