Several genes encoding enzymes that are involved in FAO, such as fatty acetyl CoA L1 (ACSL1), acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (ACADM), acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase 1 (ACAT1), and acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACACA), are increased, and ACAT2 expression is decreased in the lungs of PAH patients [101,102].
