Total levels of HIV-1 integration are suppressed through genetic ablation of LEDGF/p75 (LKO for LEDGF knockout) [18,19,22], suggesting that the stimulatory effect of LEDGF/p75 binding on HIV-1 IN activity in vitro [16,23] might be important for virus infection [13].
