Once the modulation of Arg1 and Nos2 as well as Tnfa was implicated in the activation of the macrophage inflammatory response and the control of the parasite infection [7], we predicted that the miRNA interactions would be focused on the genes involved or correlated to arginine metabolism, which is implicated in amino acid transport (Cat1/Slc7a1 and Cat2/Slc7a2), polyamine production (Arg12 Arg22 and Odc1), and NO production (Nos2) (Figure 1).
