The clinical value of adding the anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody bevacizumab to first-line chemotherapy has been explored in retrospective series [62,63,64] and in a single-center phase II trial in which 30 patients with SBA and ampullary adenocarcinoma were treated with XELOX regimen plus bevacizumab [65]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is ampulla of vater adenocarcinoma.
