The G98T polymorphism mutation can enhance the expressed SELE function by affecting the E-selectin 5’ untranslated region structure, thus causing enhanced adhesion, which in turn causes an inflammatory response, damage to endothelial cells, inhibition of NO and prostaglandin production, and diminished vascular responsiveness to endothelium-dependent vasotransfer substances, resulting in increased vascular resistance and, consequently, hypertension (Srivastava et al., 2018). Here, SELE is linked to Hypertension.
