RT-PCR assay to measure the Leishmania minicircle DNA and microscopic analysis to determine the percentage of infected neutrophils showed a comparable LdWT/ LdCen-/- parasite infection in the neutrophils at 16 and 24 h time points following infection (S1A–S1D Fig) suggesting that the observed differences in CCL3 levels between LdWT and LdCen−/− as reported in Fig 1A and 1B, are not due to variation in the level of parasite infection. This evidence concerns the gene CCL3 and parasitic infectious disease.
