In April 2020, Japanese national insurance coverage was extended to BRCA1/2 genetic testing for suspected HBOC based on the following six criteria including onset at age 45 years or younger; triple-negative breast cancer at age 60 years or younger; two or more primary breast cancers; history of ovarian, third-degree relatives with breast or ovarian cancer; history of ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer; or male breast cancer.
