During E.coli-triggered ARDS, the wet/dry ratio of the lungs along with the number of white blood cells and neutrophilic granulocytes in the BALF were all boosted (P < 0.001), followed by an evident decrease after PARP-1 inhibition in pregnant rats (E18) and neonatal rats (P1) (P < 0.01; Figure 2(c)). Here, PARP1 is linked to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
