Here, we show that the peptide induces necrosis in melanoma cells as confirmed by dilated mitochondria, plasma membrane disintegration, and vacuolization of cytoplasm, DNA fragmentation, absence of chromatin condensation, increase of double staining with Annexin V/7-AAD but not with Annexin V only, and absence of caspase-3 and -9 activation (data not shown). This evidence concerns the gene ANXA5 and melanoma.
