While the expression and functions of extragondal FSH/FSHR has been debated (44), the role of this receptor in distinct diseases has also emerged including endometriosis, and several cancers including ovarian cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and endometrial cancer (45–54), which could exploit the multiple pathways this receptor can activate and/or represent an unexploited target in disease.
