Recent studies demonstrated that lopinavir trough concentrations were 3.5-fold higher in COVID-19 patients than in HIV-infected patients (Croxtall and Perry, 2010; Marzolini et al., 2020), which positively correlates with CRP values and was significantly lower when tocilizumab (IL-6 receptor antagonist) was pre-administered (Marzolini et al., 2020; Schoergenhofer et al., 2020). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is COVID-19.
