Notably, metabolic disorders accelerated hyperandrogenism in OW participants because the levels of metabolic indicators (FINS, HbA1c, HOMA-IR, HOMA-β, TG, liver enzymes, and UA), testosterone, LH, LH/FSH, and WBC were all robustly elevated in women with PCOS compared to women without PCOS (d P < 0.05 for OW-Con vs. OW-PCOS, Table 1). The gene discussed is PLOD1; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
