Elagolix, an oral GnRH receptor antagonist, administered in combination with hormonal add-back therapy (estradiol 1 mg and norethindrone acetate 0.5 mg once daily; E2/NETA) is the first FDA-approved (May 2020) oral treatment option for uterine fibroids and is indicated for the management of HMB associated with fibroids in premenopausal women for up to 24 months.
