Insulin sensitizers, SGLT-2 inhibitors, lipid-lowering drugs, and antioxidants have shown certain effects in mitigating NAFLD, but there are also certain limitations to the use of these treatments, as revealed in previous studies: the insulin sensitizer, rosiglitazone, attenuates liver steatosis, hepatocyte inflammation, and fibrosis in patients with NASH [30]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
