Investigation of ALKBH1 in glioblastoma indicated that ALKBH1 functioned as a 6 mA demethylase, knockdown of ALKBH1 led to inhibited tumor growth and compromised stemness and tumorigenesis, by means of downregulating the expression of hypoxia- and tumor-related genes.12 In which, no 6 mA methyltransferase activity has been detected either in vivo or in vitro. This evidence concerns the gene ALKBH1 and glioblastoma.
