Patients with CHF were characterized by a greater number of males, increased prevalence of comorbidity with Atrial fibrillation, worsened cardiac functions including larger left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVEDD), decreased left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and stroke volume (SV), increased E/e’, coupled with increased serum Troponin I (TnI) and NT-pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels. The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is congestive heart failure.
