ATXN2 and autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia: Longevity assessment in SCA model flies expressing polyQ-expanded disease protein selectively in adult neurons confirmed previously reported lifespan reductions in both SCA3 and SCA6 model flies (Tsou et al., 2016; Johnson et al., 2019; Figure 3B, C), but neither ATXN2 expression nor exercise significantly affected longevity in SCA2 flies (Figure 3A).
